When you combine a slice of life with some spy action, sci-fi, and comedy, you get a fabulous season of anime.

The latest anime series that has been all the rage for the past year, Spy x Family is different than the rest in that it's not......an isekai. My attempt at humor aside, Spy x Family is an amazing show that manages to blend slice of life and action together.

A short, spoiler free synopsis. You follow a spy whose mission is to keep the peace between two countries in a cold war. To do so, he infiltrates the enemy country and to blend in, creates a family. His fake wife turns out to be an assassin and the two of them do not know the true identities of each other. Throw in a telepath daughter and hilarity follows.

A lot of comedy is involved as the family navigates the charade and "saves the world". Part 2 of the series is current airing as of 11/2022 and I certainly recommend watching it all. For those that just don't want all comedy, this IS an anime about a spy and an assassin. There are plenty or action scenes. And while rare, there are also a few thought provoking and serious cuts as well.

As a long time sub watcher, I also suggest watching the dub! I thought the English VAs were great and added a lot to the characters. Bonus points for being able to multi-task while watching in English.

My rating: 10/10
