Ichiban Kuji? Ichibansho?

I learned a new phrase in the anime figure collecting hobby; ichiban kuji and ichibansho. Ichiban kuji is the term used for figures and merchandise that are won through a lottery system in Japan. Ichibansho is when these goods are sold/distributed to outside the country via online shops. Not all of these lottery prizes are ichibansho and the only way to obtain these items are via secondhand means (Mandarake, Yahoo!Auctions, etc).

Luckily this Rimuru Tempest (The Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime), he was up online for approximately $50. However, it was 7 months after release that I wanted to buy this figure. Luckily a local shop had 1 figure and I snatched it up. This figure came in one solid piece, with Rimuru already attached to the base. The only item that needed to be put together was the sword, and that gave me anxiety. The sword piece is not fragile; it's pretty flexible. It is the hand/wrist section that gave me the most issue. The handle of the sword took some convincing to secure into Rimuru's hand to the point I was afraid of snapping his hand of. I recommend being careful and patient while adjusting the sword.

Review Score: 9/10

I took off for the fragile hand/wrist and the fact that his face looked a bit off compared to the anime. Other than that, I thought this figure was AMAZING. It's very hefty and the painting is done beautifully, The base and jacket has a slime pattern and the shading on the jacket is magnificent. And I love the shading done to his hair. I'm not convinced about his feet. His left feet has this clear portion that I'm not sure what it is supposed to be. I think this figure is perfect at this price point. The box art is great too and I really hope Bandai releases the other characters in this Ichiban Kuji line (Diablo has already been released).

See below for a video unboxing and review of the figure.
